Recipes Useful Braised Burdock & Carrot

  1. 1 burdock root (wash well, lower into 3cm length pieces, cut that into 4 equal parts lengthwise)
  2. you carrot (peeled, cut that about the same size as burdock root)
  3. 1 handful dehydrated bonito flakes (about 3~4 g)
  4. 3 or more tbsp sake
  5. 2 tbsp mirin
  6. 1 tbsp sesame oil
  7. coconut sauce (optional)

  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat, add burdock root and carrot and saute until they are coated with oil( maybe about 3~4 mins)

  2. Add sake, mirin, dried bonito flakes and braise with a lid until become slightly soft and still have the crunchy texture. Be careful not to burn it.
